Christmas 08

Let it snow, let is snow, let it is snow... and the snow came and my first Christmas was a white one. There has actually been so much snow, that my parents were finally able to go shopping on Christmas eve day! But because of the snow, the mall was actually a nice place to hang out for the day and stay dry.
From Christmas '08

And then Christmas morning came. After a couple of tries I figured out that I had to rip the paper covering the boxes under the tree to find new toys. Also pretty quickly I noticed that the toys were more fun than eating the paper. Merry Christmas!

Later on grandma Terri and grandpa Gordon came by and gave me a really fun pelican.

LOTS of snow!!

The snow keeps coming. I am now a little confused. Where did all the green trees and green grass go?

We are all starting to suffer of cabin fever...Will the roads ever clear up?

Raclette Party

Our trip to the Washington coast had to be cancelled due to the snow storm so we brought the Winter party home. My parents and their friends grilled lots of food on the Raclette and also drank lots of hot toddies. I just ate my veggies, but there was fun to be had by all!

Hailey's Birthday at the Aquarium

I love looking at fishies. I love my cousin Hailey. What a better way to spend her birthday than to go to the Seattle Aquarium!

Visit with Grandpa Clarence and Isa

I just spent the weekend in LA with my grandparents, Clarence and Isa. The plane ride to Los Angeles was really fun and I wanted to touch everything in my reach, but my mommy wouldn't let me. The whole weekend was great.
From Dylan in LA November
Isa played with me lots and made me giggle and laugh. Grandpa Clarence also played with me. On Saturday my cousins Brianna and Zachy came over with my aunt Stephanie. I was very excited to see them. In the morning there was a forest fire in Palos Verdes which made the sky yellow and for a while it started to rain ashes. It was a bit scary but it cleared up by the afternoon so we went to the park.

Halloween

I was a giraffe on my first Halloween. I am too little to eat candy or go trick or treating so I'm not sure why my mom kept dressing me up like a giraffe all week long.
From Dylan 4-5 Months

Mommy note: Dylan is growing so fast and is progressing along in his development. He can sit by himself, roll and in the last couple of weeks started eating rice cereal. He loves it and after a couple of tries he got the hang of opening his mouth for the spoon.

My first hike

Take a hike with us at: Hiking Little Si

Today my parents took me on my first hike up Little Si. They carried me on the baby backpack and I just wondered at all the trees around me. It was a bit cold, but my mommy dressed me in my new thermals and fleece clothing - it is all about the layers. Half way up I got a bit hungry and then really tired but since I was in a backpack I didn't know how to fall asleep. But my daddy rocked me before placing me back in the backpack and that helped me take a long nap. At this point my parents decided to turn around since it had been a good adventure for me already.

Seattle Aquarium

From Seattle Aquarium

My daddy loves to swim with fish and he often volunteers at the Seattle Aquarium, so he couldn't wait for me to be old enough to go see the fishies. Last weekend, we invited the Hoovers to join us and after brunch by the Farmer's Market, we ventured over to the Seattle Aquarium. I loved looking at all the amazing fish in huge water tanks. Annika also loved watching the fish. We both had a great time and can't wait to go back.

New toys make me happy!

Today I got an "exersaucer" and a couple more silly toys from Grandma Terri and Grandpa Gordon. Check me out giving it a spin!

Grandpa Gordon picked a stuffed mouse doctor that squeeks and I just think it is so funny.

A wedding in Portland and then Cannon Beach

This past weekend I went to my first wedding. My parent's friends Quinn and Tracy got married in Portland, Oregon, so the family went on another trip. This time we spent a couple of days in Portland and then drove to the coast to Cannon Beach.

The wedding: we got all dressed up and after attending the ceremony in a little pretty catholic church (where I mostly stayed quiet), we went to the reception which took place in an art gallery. Christina and I tried our best to enjoy the party by taking a couple of naps but by 10:30pm, we have had enough and our mommies took us back to the hotel.

The Beach: Cannon Beach is a nice town along the northern oregon coast. We had a couple of really sunny days even though it was cold (50's F) and mommy kept putting on a hat on my head that I wasn't too sure about. We walked around town, and along the water on the beach and also took a drive south to Tillamook and tour the cheese factory.

Dylan goes international

check out the full album: Whistler - Labor Day 08

This past weekend my parents took me to Whistler, Canada and I went international for the first time. Our friends the Prescotts also came along as well as other friends of my parents. In Whistler, my mom and Christina's mom Jodie took us for walks around Lost Lake and also took in the sights around the village. My dad and Christina's dad went mountain biking so we could not come along (yet). It got a bit colder than expected and mommy put a lot of clothes on me, even a hat...I guess with winter coming our way I better get used to that. On the way back we stopped in Vancouver for sushi at The Eatery. It was a crazy place with lots of funny and weird creatures hanging from the ceiling. I thought it was really cool because I could not stop looking around.

L.A. here I come!

This past week I took my first plane ride to California. My mom and I went alone and to my mom's relief I seemed to enjoy the flight. No fuzz, just smiles and napping. In this trip I met my Woods grandparents and I stayed with them for a few days. They were really nice to me and Isa (my grandma) loved to carry me and rock me to sleep. Grandpa Clarence played with me on my playmat, I think he liked the little animals as much as I do.

Halfway through our trip we drove to my Leonard's cousins house for Zachary's birthday party. The theme was Spiderman and I hear in a couple of years I will know what that means. I was just happy to hang out with my grandparents and check out the kids running around. After the party, my mommy and I stayed at my cousins house. My cousin Brianna loved hanging out with me. She reminded me of a mini-mommy. Zachy liked to jump around me. I think he was hoping that I could play with him.

PEPS

My parents have joined PEPS (Program for Early Parenting Support) and last night we had our first meeting where we met seven other new sets of parents and their little ones. I am the oldest one so our ages range from two months to ten days. Before we know it we will all be about even in our developement but right now my parents are amazed by the differences in only two months. We will be meeting every Monday for the next ten weeks, and we are looking forward to it.

Bend, Oregon

I just came back from my first road trip. We went to Bend, Oregon for a long weekend, and to my parents' relief I behaved very well on the 8 hour ride. I slept most of the way and when awake just played with my hands or looked around. I hear many more trips are in my future so I am glad I don't mind riding in the car.

We spent the weekend with the Prescotts and I hung out all weekend with my friend Christina. She is 2 months older than me so was teaching me how to hold toys and play with them or just put them in my mouth. Our dads went mountain biking around Mt. Bachelor while our moms hung out with us. Also, Bend has three microbreweries and our parents were excited to visit them all and try their special drinks. I am too young to drink beer but daddy thought it would be funny to take pictures of me holding beer coasters...in 21 years I will find out what the fuzz is all about!

Dylan the tourist

Today I took my first trip to the famous Pike Place Farmer's Market in downtown Seattle. My parent's good friend Joanna is visiting from Boulder, Colorado and we all went for a stroll around the market. My dad carried me on the baby bjorn (front carrier) and I was very entertained looking at all the flowers, fish and multiple people around the market.
We then walked down to the waterfront and had seafood at Anthony's. Ok, I didn't but they did and seemed to enjoy it. All the while I just watched in awe the water and the boats. No nap for me this afternoon, there was just too much to see!

Here are some photos from out outing (bottom of album). Enjoy!

A date in the park

This past Sunday my dad and Annika's mom trained for the triathlon they will be doing next Sunday, so my mom and Annika's dad supervised my date with Annika. We laid under the shade of a large tree and admired the bright blue sky and the shapes of the leaves high above us. Annika who is 6 months older was happy to hold my hand (or head or ear) while I just wondered about this new world my expanded eyesight has brought to me.

6 Weeks

My mommy has discovered that six weeks is the equivalent of the terrible twos... I guess I am going through a growth spurt and that means that I am hungry, not sleeping much and grumpy most of the time. But mommy is patiently attending to my insistent demands and we will get through this one with flying colors.

All isn't bad news. I have also discovered that mommy and daddy like it when I smile back at them and I'm excelling at tummy time. I lift my head and turn it all the way around. I have even started to use my arms to push myself up!

Mommy note: Dylan has become a lot more aware of his world in the last week. He notices many things around him. It is a cute new development.

Here he is playing on his playmat.

Friends and family

My parents love to visit with friends and I love to come along. I am becoming friends with Christina Prescott, Annika Hoover and also my Davis Grandparents.

Last week we went out for Sushi. Mommy really had been craving it since she was pregnant so it had been a long time coming. The Prescotts with my friend Christina joined us and we had a great time.

Look at the fun pictures!

My first month

My first month has been a time of fast growth and wonderment. Mostly by my parents but now that I can see more of the world I am excited to be part of it as well. The first couple of weeks I kept my mommy on high alert. If I was hungry I had to let her know, but that was really the only time I cried, so I hear I am being considered a good baby.

Now that I am a whole month older I can communicate better. I know that mommy (or daddy) will be bringing me food so don't cry right away... just don't make me wait. Most of the time I just curiously look into mommy or daddy's eyes or those colorful silly toys I have started to notice. I am a little fuzzy about nap time. I know I am tired but have to cry a little to settle down and a binky is always welcome. But nightime is becoming a bit more of routine and I am happy to sleep right after I have been fed...now if I can only figure out how to sleep more than 2 1/2 hours during the night.
